Marvel Adventures: Avengers

The Avengers don't do much avenging in this series aimed at younger readers. Oh, there are fights, and many pages devoted to Wolverine beating up a bad guy (in a non-explicit way of course), but most of the stories are light and fun—any scene with Spider-Man is guaranteed good time, especially when he's having a little fun with Wolvie.

BLOCKHEAD PARTY: When the Avengers take some time out of their busy schedules to attend a neighborhood block party / flea market, Tigra discovers a magic necklace and accidentally unleashes an ancient genie that has two goals in mind: giving Tigra her requisite three wishes, and seeking terrible vengeance on the ‘dire villain’ who trapped him in the lamp… a certain ever lovin’ blue eyed Thing! Can Tigra simply WISH this problem away? You’d think so, but magic wishes sure do have their way of back-firing! It’s a supernatural battle royale, guest-starring the Thing!

But, hold on, what’s a pterodactyl doing in London anyway? Geez, never mind, because now it looks like it’s about 4000 BC, and Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos are teaming up with the Avengers in order to take down a madman with a rather personal take on time.

It’s just a cat, right? I mean, the Avengers SHOULD be able to rescue a cat from a tree, right? Unfortunately, when both cat and tree are in an overlapping universe, giving them a very ghostly, and very INTANGIBLE presence, that does make it a puzzler. And it’s doubly hard for the Avengers when their efforts attract a deadly interdimensional monster! Plus, the somewhat scintillating menace of…Hammerhead!
